• We have room in lectures and labs, so if you are on a waiting list, do not worry, you should be fine.

  Bring your laptop! Do the prep work indicated on the calendar page.

  The prep work is listed in the Preparation and Notes column: you do not need to do Lab 0 before you show up, but you are welcome to do it ahead of time if you like.

• Our web page is up. It is linked at the top of this page and you can also find it by Googling cytron cse131.
• There is a FAQ on the home page, and many questions are answered there.
• There is a calendar/syllabus off the home page, showing what we will be doing each week and day (some days are missing but will be completed by next week).
• If you are currently majoring or minoring in computer science, or think you may consider doing so, you are strongly encouraged to sign up for the 1-unit pass/fail addition to our course known as CSE131R.

  The FAQ explains more about why this seminar is important for you.

  I will talk about it first lecture, and the first meeting of the seminar is not until September 9.

• There is no lab meeting on Rosh Hashanah, which is September 5. This is shown on the schedule.
• You can earn participation points toward your grade by the use of your cell phone in class (seriously). This involves using WUTexter, an app developed by myself and a student like you who took 131.

  You should try to set up your cell phone to use WUTexter before you arrive on campus, using these directions.

• There is software you need to install on your computer, and there are directions for doing so on the home page.
• You need access to the course text for the course. I have scans of the first 2 or 3 readings that I will post but you do need access to a text. The text is listed on the home page for the course and the FAQ.

  You will be challenged to provide a username and password to access the scanned sections. The username is cse131 and the password is nobookyet.
