Concise Instructions for submission to COLT 2000

If you plan to send your paper electronically and are using Latex and dvips, here is a summary of the steps you need to take. If you encounter problems with this procedure, please check the detailed instructions. In case of problems, contact us as soon as possible.
  1. Integrate your paper with the COLT style file and make sure that the outcome is at most 12 pages long. Click here for Latex style and sample files.

  2. Convert the dvi file to postscript using dvips with the options -t letter -D300 .
-t letter makes the outcome fit "letter" size (8.5" x 11") paper.
-D300 makes sure that 300dpi fonts are used (if this option causes error or warning messages, do not use it as the outcome is likely to be of very poor quality).

NOTE: If your default resolution is 300dpi or greater then you can omit the -D300 flag.

  3. By May 17, submit to colt2000@dsi.unimi.it an email letter which begins with the following template (in plain ASCII) with your paper information AND THEN the postscript file for your paper. All fields in the template are optional, except Title, Authors and Abstract.

  4. At your option, you may also send us a back-up hard copy of the paper which we will visually compare to the version we print from your electronic submission, and which we will use as camera-ready copy in case we cannot print your electronic submission. If you expect to be out of town or unreachable in the period May 17-25, you should also consider sending a back-up hard copy. The hard copy must be received by May 17th. Be sure that your hard copy is printed SINGLE-SIDED on 8.5" x 11" paper.

  5. Print out, sign and send us the Morgan Kaufmann copyright form to Sally Goldman at the below address so that it arrives by May 17th:

  6. Assuming all goes well, by May 19, we will attempt to print your postscript. If we have any difficulties, we will let you know, and we may ask you to send us a hard-copy via express mail (unless you have already sent us a back-up copy).
