By airplane
If you arrive at Munich airport you have two options to travel to
Irsee: by car or by train. If you rent a car, follow the instructions
below. If you prefer to take the train, take the S-Bahn to Munich
main station and then follow the instrucutions below. The S-Bahn (line 8)
stops right below the main airport building and runs every 20 minutes
(x:15, x:35, and x:55). The ride to Munich main station takes approximately
40 minutes.
By train
The closest city to Irsee is Kaufbeuren. It is well connected by train
from Munich main station. Most trains run
daily (taeglich). From Kaufbeuren you can take a taxi to the monastery.
It is a 7km ride.

By car
From Munich airport take the follwing route: Leave the airport `
into direction Munich. Change to the Autobahn A9 to Munich.
Take the exit "Munich-Schwabing / Mittlerer Ring (the last exit).
Enter the "Mittlerer Ring" and follow the signs "A96 Lindau". This takes you about 15 kilometers around Munich. You will pass the BMW headquarters and
the Olympic Park. Take the Autobahn A96 into direction Lindau.
Leave at exit Buchloe and enter the "Bundesstrasse" B12 into direction Kaufbeuren / Irsee. Shortly before Kaufbeuren, there is a road
at your right-hand side to Irsee. There is a sign, so you cannot miss it.
After two kilometers you will see the monastery. The ride from Munich airport
to Irsee is about 120 km and takes about 1,5 hours.
Irsee by car
If you come from Stuttgart (Autobahn A8) take the Autobahn A7 into
direction Memmingen / Kempten (south) at Ulm. Stay on the A7 until
it crosses the Autobahn A96. Take the Autobahn A96 into direction Munich. Exit at Buchloe and follow the B12 south to Kaufbeuren until
you see the sign Irsee. Take the road to Irsee which is at your right-hand
side. After two kilometers you will see the monastery.
From Linz (ECOOP)
Most trains from Linz to Munich main
station run daily (taeglich). For connections from Munich
main station to Kaufbeuren see above.
