TA Positions Available: Consider being a TA for a CS course next semester. If you've done very well in CS101 and/or CS102, and you like helping people solve problems, you may want to become a TA. The job is both fun and rewarding (certainly better than washing dishes), and pay starts at $7/hour. Applications are available on the door to the graders office (Lopata 406).

The Final Exam will be held on Thursday, April 29 from 10:30am-12:30pm. Use this review sheet to help you prepare. KJG will have extended office hours, as noted on the review sheet.

Since the final exam will be comprehensive, if your score on the final is higher than your score on the midterm, then we'll replace your midterm score by your grade on the final.

TA hours: There are no more TA hours or labs this semester. If you did not pick up your graded Lab 5, it should be in your pendaflex folder. If you are not in the School of Engineering, then your graded lab is in the CS graders' office (Lopata 406). There are often various TAs hanging around the office who can return your lab to you.

Lab 5 rewrites: Lab 5 rewrites are due no later than Tuesday, April 27. If you need to redo your demo, please make arrangements in advance with a TA.

Programming Contest Information: The CS102 Programming Contest was held on April 22. Please join me in congratulating the following students who successfully entered the contest: Quincy Davis, Iliya Filev, Chien-Liang Fok, Sajan Mahajan, Brian Melton, Michael Schultz, Marc Sentany, Olcan Sercinoglu, Matthew Story, Dane Summers, and Ryan Wilhelm. (If you entered the contest and your name has been overlooked here, please contact me so you can be awarded your extra credit for entering.) See the programming contest statistics for the wins and losses for the entries (the numbers in parenthesis represent games ending by forfeit). The names of the winners will be announced in the 10 minutes prior to the start of the CS102 final exam.

If you are doing a rewrite for lab 5, please turn it in as soon as possible. The TAs will be friendlier if you get it in early.

The Hatchet, the WashU Yearbook, is looking for talented computer whizzes to help manage the technical side of producing the yearbook. Responsibilities include managing the server, keeping desktop machines operational, maintaining the yearbook office's network, and some miscellaneous work and question answering in Quark XPress. Training is available. If interested in the technical coordinator position, please contact Bryan Pendleton (bap3@cec) for more information on how to apply.

3/24
If you used Math.random() instead of java.util.Random on Lab 3, you may have had 1 point deducted from your lab score. However, this deduction should not have occurred. If you want the point restored, bring your graded lab to Greg Fee during his administrative office hours on any Wednesday 3:30-5:30 in Lopata 407. Sorry for the inconvenience.

By popular demand, some extra credit options have been added Lab 3.

2/25
There will be a debugging tutorial during lab section on Monday, March 8. The TAs expect that you will attend this. If you skip it, the TAs may be rather reluctant later to take you through a debugging session.

2/25
There will not be TA hours during Spring Break, except for some hours that may be specially posted at the top of the TA hours page.

The midterm exam will be held on Tuesday, February 23 10:00-11:30 in McDonnell 162. This review sheet may be helpful as you prepare.

DEMO POLICY CLARIFICATION: We've had some problems with students wanting to wait until the end of their lab section or the end ot the day to do demos. Please note that to get credit for a demo, you must:
  1. Show up to YOUR lab section on the day the demo is due.
  2. Give a TA your signed cover sheet within the first 15 minutes of your lab section.
  3. Be prepared to give the demo when they get to you. If you're not ready, just demo what you have for partial credit.

LATE POLICY CLARIFICATION: If you use a late coupon for a lab, you must give the demo within 72 hours of the original demo time. You must make arrangements with a TA to give the demo. The hard copy for late labs should be turned in when you do the demo. The TA will record the grade for the demo on your cover sheet and the lab should be immediately turned in to the CS102 mailbox.

Beginning today, all CS102 TA consulting hours will be held in the Cupples II 300 PC lab. (Lab sections will continue to be held in Sever 201 and 202.)

Lab section F has been cancelled, so if you're in that lab section, check below for your new lab section. Also, if you were waitlisted for a lab, check below to see your new lab section, which may or may not be the same as the one you were waitlisted for. The registrar will be making these changes in the registration system.

Please fill out the student information survey on the CS102 Students page.

The TAs will be transcribing lecture summaries and putting them on the web. Hopefully, the'll be up within a week after each lecture. You can get to them from the "notes" icon on the cs102 menu bar.

1/12
If you missed getting a copy of the course calendar in class the first day, there will be more copies on Thursday.

If you have a temporary CEC account from the fall, "tmpflxxxx", you need to ask CEC to change it over to a spring account, "tmpflxxxx." You can make these arrangements by sending email to kay@cec.wustl.edu.
