The Speaker represents faculty by attending and voting at all Executive Committee meetings for our School. Below are the non-personnel items that are raised at the meetings. It may come to pass that Mike Moll will address the faculty assembly about the budget book; this was done last year. My sense is that we don't need to go over the book page by page, but that highlights could be covered and faculty could see the book ahead of time to be prepared to ask questions if they wish. So I'm thinking the whole thing should take no more than 20 minutes. If you want something longer, or have comments, please let me know.
The document spells out limits as to how much and how often funds can be spent on food, entertainment, etc. Spending above a relatively low ceiling involves approval at the Dean's level.
There was a genuine lack of enthusiasm for this policy but it seems we have no choice.
