Watching Class Videos

To watch class videos you will need to install the DivX and Xvid video codecs.

Instructions for Windows:
  1. To get DivX, go to the DivX download page for Windows.
  2. Click on the "Free Download" button to download the installer.
  3. Double click on the "DivXInstaller.exe" file on the Desktop and follow the instructions to install DivX. You only need to install the DivX Codec, DivX Player, and the DivX Web Player.
  4. To get Xvid, go to the Xvid download page.
  5. Click on the "Xvid for Windows" link to go the download page.
  6. Click on the "Click Here To Download" button and save the executable file to a known location on your harddrive (e.g., Desktop).
  7. Double click on the saved file and follow the instructions to finish the installation.
  8. Try to open a class video to ensure that the codec has been installed successfully.

Instructions for OS X:
  1. To get DivX, go to the DivX download page for Macs.
  2. Click on the "Free Download" button to download the installer.
  3. If the installer does not start once the download has completed, double click on the "DivX for Mac Installer.pkg" file on the Desktop to start the installer. Follow the instructions to install DivX. You only need to install the DivX Codec, DivX Player, and the DivX Web Player.
  4. To get Xvid, go to the Xvid download page for Macs.
  5. Click on the "Xvid Codec for Mac OS" link and save the file to a known location on your harddrive (e.g., Desktop).
  6. You will need the Stuff It Expander to expand the downloaded archive file.
  7. Drag the "XVIDDelegate" file in the extracted directory into the "/Library/Quicktime/" directory.
  8. Try to open a class video to ensure that the codec has been installed successfully. You may have to close down all your open browser windows first.
